Baking Bend: Dark Chocolate Coconut Oatmeal Cookies

I kind of got inspired this weekend to pick up on my gym workouts, considering I was taking it at little easy.  But a healthy lifestyle is as much to do with eating clean as it does with training mean. I have a major sweet tooth, that I’m constantly battling – but I figured a healthy home made cookie is better than a store bought processed cookie.  I found this recipe and just had to try it.  I did also use walnuts (not included in original recipe linked above) but I figured it would be an easy add in.

Had some Pomegranate Green Tea in between batches.

Next time I make this I’ll try not to scarf down a dozen cookies before offering any to the Hubz I will use whole wheat flour, extra dark chocolate chips (couldn’t find them this time) and ground flax seed.

Teeee Dot Ohhhh

Few days ago we decided to go watch a Raptors game.  Now I’m not a huge sports fan, but since getting married I’ve learned quite a few things and can keep myself up to date on current sports news (teams, latest trades, injured players, scores etc)…marriage is about compromise right!  (In saying that…the hubz can name of designer purses now :P)

The energy at the ACC was amazing.  I felt like I was at a pep rally haha.

The best part of the game (other than cheering the Raptors onto victory) was being able to use my telephoto zoom lens.  I’m not 100% comfortable with this lens (as I don’t use it much) so it was nice to take it out for a spin.

See, the cage, it called. I said, Come on in

Jumping for joy…because spring is on the way.  Ok ok over enthusiastic I know…but warmer weather means ankle boots, cuffed jeans and light jackets (ie no winter boots, heavy coats or frozen body parts :P)

The little buds are beginning to grow!

Spent the day meeting friends (and their new babies), having a few too many Starbucks Hazelnut Macciattos and watching The Silver Linings Playbook (second time for me now).  This outfit was perfect for easing around the city or getting down on the foam tiles to help build a hot wheels track in a kids play room.

Who runs the world

I was at Indigo a few weekends ago and was flipping through The Sartorialist paperback, when I came across the chapter on Garance.   I’m her newest follower – on her twitter, blog and instagram that is.  She’s a fantastic fashion photographer and illustrator….Plus she looks so chic in heavy duty layers and winter attire.

I also just got around to watching the Beyonce Documentary on HBO… “Life is But a Dream”. (Thankful for boys nights!)  It was really personal and actually quite emotional.  Her ambition and outlook on life are very inspiring.  Note to self: must look into investing in a wind machine!

And you’ve clearly decided, on how to handle me

How much can one help another?  Helping someone, who you may think is in need…may come off as judgemental, controlling, unwarranted or just plain unappreciated.  The most important person you can help is yourself – thats what I’m learning to stick to.

A few months ago, I helped myself to these mustard coloured tights.  I’ve been wanting to pair it with a pattern skirt, but all black everything seems to be my mood as of late (thanks to the snowy cold weather) so I went with it.

In other (and more lighter) matters of the heart, this past week was Valentines.  I hear all the flack it gets for being a Hallmark holiday but I take it as an extra special date night (with the Hubz) and a day to show gratitude for all the love and friendship in my life.

Cause when you never see the light it’s hard to know which one of us is caving

Last week we had the absolute pleasure of dining at Splendido.  It was actually a Winterliscious resto I read about on BlogTo.  The Winterliscious gods were on my side the day I made the reservation…This place is seriously hard to get a table at.

The food was absolutely amazing.  Not your normal steak frites and cornish hen.  Flavours and food items to teach my palette a lesson.

Shot of the snow storm from our window.  I don’t remember a storm being this intense in the last few winters  I braved the cold, and ended up slugging through the snow to run a few errands.  It was actually kind of refreshing.

India …through my eyes

“India is the cradle of the human race, the birthplace of human speech, the mother of history, the grandmother of legend, and the great grand mother of tradition. Our most valuable and most astrictive materials in the history of man are treasured up in India only!”  Mark Twain

In saying that, the food is amazing, the history is rich, the culture is a little blurred these days but the fashion is still intense.

We had the amazing chance to expore North India (Delhi, Gurgaon, Ajmer, Pushkar, Jaipur, Jalandarh, Amrisar, Chandigarh, Nalagarh & Agra) to visit some amazing sights and people (our family :P)

I still hear the songs reminding me of a friend

The weather has been so strange lately.  Somedays I have to wear a heavy winter coat and sometimes I walk out the door with my fall jacket.  This day was not one of those days.  I was freezing when we took these pictures, but I think we (the hubz and I) were both so sick of taking indoor shorts (which consisted of either taking them in the parking garage or stairwell) that we welcomed the cold.

What I’m wearing: Report Boots | Zara Tshirt | H&M Faux Fur

The pretty background and rain slicked roads made for amazing pictures.  I’m a city girl at heart, but I’m I’m starting to see the benefits of being out in the farm towns.  We all have to grow up at some point so I’ll leave my thoughts for then. :)

Sunday Brunch

Just some photos from a brunch outing a few weekends ago at Prague Deli.  The place is under new management but well-known in the neighbourhood as european delicatessen famous for their perogies.

They kindly substituted my rye bread for a portion of cooked veggies.  I know very uneuropean but I missed a workout and knew I wouldn’t have enjoyed the extra carbs.

I truly adored the beautiful decor: bird house wall clock, make shift table from a barrel and these cute shot glasses with flowers.  Adorable!
